For the purposes of internship and residency training, Dr. Apazidis was on house staff at the University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, a part of the New Jersey Medical School. While serving as a resident at the state trauma center, he received training in the latest theories and techniques in advanced orthopedic surgery. This hospital was also one of the busiest spine trauma and orthopedic oncology centers in the country.

After residency, Dr. Apazidis was accepted for fellowship training at New York University and the Hospital for Joint Diseases. Considered the best spine fellowship in the country, NYU provided training from over 30 spine surgeons, including the chairman Dr. Thomas Errico. Dr. Errico is among the finest spine surgeons in the country and has developed instrumentation and spinal implants ranging from scoliosis deformity correction to total disc replacement.

Dr. Apazidis's main area of focus is spine surgery. He is interested in both degenerative conditions of the spine and spinal deformity surgery. Having trained in the latest techniques in minimally invasive surgery and motion preservation alternatives, his goal is to provide the best and most up to date choices and service to the patients of Suffolk County. Additionally, Dr. Apazidis is committed to treating patients with spinal deformity and scoliosis. Having trained with innovators in these areas, he uses the new Surgimap ® software system to careful plan out all his deformity surgeries and is involved with outcomes registries to ensure that patients have the best possible results.

Dr. Apazidis is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the Medical Society of the State of New York, and the Suffolk County Medical Society. He is certified board eligible by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.

The goal of his practice is to provide the highest quality orthopedic care through a comprehensive evaluation and individualized treatment plan. As a physician, his objective is to help his patients maintain an active lifestyle, allowing them to participate in their favorite activities without pain. His approach to treating patients is to begin with conservative options and to proceed with surgery only when all else has failed. When surgery is necessary, he uses the latest minimally invasive techniques to allow patients to return to their sport, activity, or job quickly and safely.

Dr. Angelillo performs a variety of surgical procedures for the knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle and hip. They include rotator cuff repair, labral repair, ACL reconstruction and meniscal repair. He has a special interest in joint preservation surgery for the active patient, and performs cutting-edge procedures such as meniscal transplant surgery, as well as articular cartilage restoration and resurfacing operations. He performs ligament and tendon repair, as well as reconstructive surgery for the knee, shoulder, elbow, and ankle, and is one of the few surgeons on Long Island who performs arthroscopy of the hip.

A native of Long Island, Dr. Angelillo completed his undergraduate studies at Binghamton University. He received his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency program within the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Healthcare System. He furthered his orthopedic surgery training by completing a sports medicine fellowship at the world renowned NYU-Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City.

Throughout his career Dr. Angelillo has lectured and presented research at the local and national levels. He is currently interested in clinical research, product development, and new techniques to improve the ever-changing field of orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Angelillo is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the New York State Society of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Renard completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, a part of the New Jersey Medical School. This hospital is one of the busiest orthopedic trauma and orthopedic oncology centers in the country. At the University Hospital, he was instructed by world renowned Orthopedic Traumatologists in the foundation of treatment of fractures and complications from musculoskeletal injuries.

After residency, Dr. Renard was accepted for fellowship training at the prestigious University of Southern California where he also served as an attending surgeon at the LAC-USC Medical Center. Dr. Renard enhanced his clinical acumen in trauma care, oversaw the instruction of orthopedic residents, and helped manage one of the busiest orthopedic trauma services in Los Angeles. At LAC-USC Medical Center, Dr. Renard was intimately involved with the treatment of complications associated with orthopedic trauma including, fracture non-unions, malunions/deformity, post-traumatic osteoarthritis, and infections/osteomyelitis. Furthermore, he received training in joint re-orientation procedures designed for joint preservation in younger and select older patients; namely performing osteotomies about the hip (Proximal Femoral and Periacetabular), the knee and ankle.

Dr. Renard's areas of focus are acute fracture care as well as treating complications associated with musculoskeletal injuries. He individualizes the treatments for each of his patients, as many injuries and fractures do not require surgical intervention but supervised rehabilitation. In addition to fracture care, he also practices general orthopedics, treating common orthopedic maladies such as osteoarthritis, sprains and strains, and overuse injuries. Dr. Renard has served as an instructor at national courses for residents-in-training, surgeons-in-practice, and operating room personnel. He has authored several scientific articles and book chapters on orthopedic science. Dr. Renard is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Orthopedic Trauma Association, the Medical Society of the State of New York, and the Suffolk County Medical Society. He is certified board eligible by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.
